Inspectec
Software design and prototype for a platform digitizing mandatory vehicle inspections in the DR.
The problem
Law 63-17 created a national vehicle inspection program (ITV) aimed at halving traffic fatalities by 2030, but registrations could still be renewed with no mechanical check, so unsafe vehicles stayed on the road.
What we designed
- 01Digital scheduling: drivers book appointments at certified centers, with automated confirmations and requirement checks before a slot is locked.
- 02Vehicle status dashboard: approved, needs repair or decommissioned, updated automatically after each inspection.
- 03Inspection reports: inspectors capture brake, suspension, emissions, lighting and tire data in structured forms, and the system issues a downloadable certificate with a QR code.
- 04Complaint management: evidence-backed complaints against centers or vehicles, with status tracking and PDF/Excel exports.
- 05Microservices architecture with direct integration to government databases (INTRANT and the national vehicle registry, DGAPP).
Deliverables
- Requirements specification and UML use cases across six system modules.
- Entity-relationship database schema.
- Wireframes and a high-fidelity prototype of the inspection and complaint flows.
