RedLang Compiler

A custom programming language compiled to native code through LLVM.

The problem

Build a real language end to end, from grammar to machine code, to understand every layer a compiler has to get right.

How I built it

  1. 01Wrote a formal grammar in ANTLR4 and lowered the parse tree into a hand-built AST.
  2. 02Implemented a multi-pass semantic analyzer with scoped symbol tables and type checking.
  3. 03Built a code generator targeting LLVM IR, compiled to native binaries with Clang, with an automated compile-and-run pipeline.

Outcome

  • Supports classes and objects, functions, recursion, if/else, for and while loops, arrays and nullable types.
  • Source programs compile all the way down to native machine code.
